Cody and Macey Update

This is little Macey smiling - and look at that double chin! I love it! She has been smiling since 3 weeks, which seems early, but they weren't gas smiles and she was awake:) She is SO cute in the mornings, it makes getting up at 6 am a little better. Lately she has been going to bed at 8, waking at 2:30ish and then 6. I am feeling really lucky at this point. She has been growing so much, but she was born with her little double chin...
We have been getting through winter one day at a time. I figure if we can just make it through this month and next it only gets better! Since Cody doesn't get out as much energy as he does in the summer, it's harder for him to want to take a nap. A few days he has missed a badly needed nap. One evening he fell asleep in the middle of eating dinner, which is very rare for him and never in the middle of eating; he almost had that bite of toast!

The 'F' Word and Sleeping

I have mentioned before that Cody loves trucks. He also is talking a LOT more and repeats words he knows over and over. He used to calls trucks 'gucks', but now trees are fwees and the word for trucks has changed too. I literally hear the f word clear as a bell hundreds of times a day, all innocently spoken. I let Cody bring two trucks to church yesterday and Ben about died, but luckily he didn't yell anything out in sacrament.
On a happy note, Macey slept 7 hours last night!!!!! I never dreamed that would be possible, especially since I haven't slept through the night more than once a month in two years! Hopefully she'll keep it up and I don't jinx myself:)

Moms and Christmas Vacation

The day before I had Macey my mom flew in to Pullman and stayed to help. Our apartment has never been cleaner or in better order than when she was here. We had wonderful meals and watched movies. Cody and her played playdoh, colored, did puzzles, watched movies, played cars...and I decided I will never have another baby in the winter, Cody loves playing outside but it's just too cold here. To go home my dad drove up and they rode home together. He came with Christmas! A couch and chair and bed for Cody, and trucks and cars galore for him to play with. We were so excited, and it was nice to sit somewhere soft after we hadn't had a couch that week.
After my mom left Ben's mom Bonnie came up (on short notice, thank you!). She was so helpful and even let us go on a date to a movie. While she was here it snowed record amounts in Spokane - more in 24 hours than it Ever has since they began recording snowfall. Her flight home was cancelled and she stayed with us two more days- after riding a shuttle to Spokane and then back.
THANK YOU so much to our mothers - hopefully someday we can repay you! And here's Cody and Macey:)
Cody and Ben did attempt to go out in the snow once but it was too high for Cody to move. Here they are all geared up.This is in Utah where it was much warmer - Cody went on four wheel sled rides. We didn't have all his snow stuff so we improvised!

We had so much fun in Utah. Our first day there we went to lunch with friends, it's always good to see old friends! We spent Christmas eve and morning with the Croslands where we got an awesome tent we will put to use, in the summer, and Christmas day with the Purdy's. We extended our stay in Utah for a week because we were having too much fun, and dreading the prospect of spending two freezing cold weeks in Pullman before school starts for Ben. We already miss our families! We are so grateful for everything they do for us and LOVE all the time we get to spend with them.
Back in Pullman, Cody is going crazy and refusing to go down for naps...aaahh, the adjustment period for two kids has been prolonged for a month and is now just starting. Wish us luck.

Cousins

This is Macey at two weeks old. Look at that cute belly! Ben was worried that she was malnourished, but she's just fine:) She weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. at 3 days - and 7 lbs. 11 oz. at 10 days! By two weeks we still hadn't ever really heard her cry. Little did I know... The day we flew home to Utah she started crying that night when I gave her a bath and she has serious lungs she was just storing it up.

This is Macey and her cute cousin Blake who is 3 months older than her. (Blake's cry is so sweet and cute in comparison:))
Here they are in their Christmas outfits! I tried to get a cute picture of the three cousins, but none of them were too excited about it.

There are a bunch of other cute pictures of cousins from both sides that are not on my camera, so if anyone with pictures is reading this you are supposed to send them to me!!!

Introducing Macey Crosland!

Born December 5, 2008 at 11:11 a.m.
Weight: 6 lbs. 15 oz.
Height: 19 inches

Labor Story:)
We went in at 8 am to the hospital for the induction. We filled out paperwork and I got an IV. It made me feel a little woosy. Then they told me that the two anesthesiologists had surgeries all day so they had to do my epidural right then or I might not get one. I opted to definitely get one and they came and did it. I fainted because it grossed me out, but only for a second and then I was good to go. They could only set it up for a half dose given three times an hour because they wouldn't be there to monitor it, but could be back in 3 to 4 hours to set it up. I was just dialated to a 3 1/2. My nurse started me on Pitocin and the contractions started coming in no time like crazy. I dialated to a 10 so fast - without the help of my epidural - it was SO painful! The anesthesiologist came in about 10 minutes before she was born and pumped me full of medicine and it helped some- probably a ton:) but I still felt a little. Macey was born in 2 1/2 hours. I can't complain about that, it was so nice to be done so soon! She is doing great! We were the only ones in labor and delivery that day so we got spoiled by the nurses. The hospital is SO nice here and we're so excited!

No Baby Yet...but hopefully soon:)

I am going in to be induced today!!! In an hour. I haven't been able to sleep since about 4, which is pretty typical this month for me. I have been having contractions for the last two days, and was already dialated to a 3 before that, so hopefully I will have made some progress.
I went to library time with Cody, his Favorite!, on Wednesday. I sat next to a woman who asked me when I was due. I told her next Wednesday. She told me I looked miserable. (I had actually gotten ready that day so apparently I had the done-with-pregnancy look.) Then she asked me if I minded her saying that I had the strangest shaped belly she had ever seen. No-I don't mind, I'm not self-conscious at this point! In all honesty it wasn't really that offending, but I do think it's funny to hear everyone's stories of how people tell you strange things like asking about twins when you're only having one, or telling you you're huge, etc.
Hopefully we will have a post soon with pictures of a little girl-with a name!
