Maybe our neighbors are feeling like they have to hide now if they're walking their dogs because they are sure to be flagged down by Macey. Although some of them really look forward to their daily chats. Mackayla ran to the front door from the front lawn the other day and declared, "I want a dog."
Macey is loving it here. The other day at the pool she struck up a conversation with a random man and his baby. They chatted for a couple minutes and then she asked him if he knew where we lived. He said no. She told him our house number and asked if he knew where that was. He said no again. Undeterred, she persisted. She gave him a detailed description of our car and informed him "it's over there, so if you want to follow us home, you can." Love her friendliness.:) I will miss this cute innocence some day.

What you know and who you love
Yesterday as we were driving my kids were looking at all the convertibles and corvettes and "flashy" cars. Cody, talking nonstop (using his new favorite word "flashy"), finally asked if we could drive one of those instead of a minivan. I turned off the music and said the only things you can take to heaven are what you know and who you love. I hope they never forget that.
Cody seems to be made for the beach. He stayed in the water the whole time we were there except to come swallow some food at lunch.
We went to our ward beach day but since I don't actually know anyone in our ward I just decided to try my luck and if all else fails, enjoy our day at the beach. Sure enough I found a group but they were from a different ward. They knew some ward members and said they hadn't seen mine and invited me to stay with them. They were so sweet and asked how I knew to ask them. All I did was look for a bunch of moms in tankinis.
We went to target the other day. Cody and macey were being a little crazy so I was working on getting it under control when I realized what the othe noise was. We were passing through the clothes and as we passed mackayla would squeal in delight and say "oh cute!" Then another rack she would see something else she loved and say oh cute! Finally we made it to baby clothes section. She went crazy with joy. Finally she asked me to get a purple dress behind some others and she got even more excited and stopped, looked straight at me and said clear as day "Buy it." Not an order or a threat but an i desperatelyneed this dress. This one year old kills me. I think me and her have different taste in clothes but she definitely has style.

Standing out is a good thing.
Macey has really taken to our new neighborhood. Around dinner time they will ride their bikes out front while I make dinner. Macey will ride to the corner and wait for all the dog owners to walk by with their dogs. She will ask to pet their dogs, learn their names and tell them everything about our family. We know about 15 different dogs it seems like now.We went to target the other day. First Down
We survived the first week. Emotions are always high after a move for us and the learning curve is steep. We had a broken phone, a useless dryer, and a UTI for one kid amongst all the other moving-in of last week.
Who knew electric and gas dryers have totally different hookups? (duh) I didn't know there was a difference til now. We have/had an electric one. Gas dryers really are faster at drying! I found one on craigslist and took my trusty minivan to pick it up with the three kiddos. After Cody switching seats 5 or 6 times, the man shaking his head in disbelief, and two seats removed and stowed we had it stashed. The man said he appreciated my "tenacity." I think he was trying to say give up and go home. but we got it! We had MOUNTAINS of laundry. Every blanket, towel and item of clothing we owned.
Grocery shopping is wild. Prices here are crazy. We found a cute persian market with cheap produce and will pay one arm and one leg for everything else. Luckily there is a Costco I can give my limbs too. You can get a 50 lb. bag of flour for $15 if you ask the front. Pretty sweet deal - let the bread making begin!
We gave up having a yard to come to this neighborhood. But we gained a park on our block, several swimming pools, and splash parks and a perfect little balcony off our bedroom that sees the sun in the morning. A little utopian suburb with a lot of traffic and people.

The night before we moved we went to a going away party for Ben's work. They gave him a beautiful book of photographs of Oregon signed by the doctors and his coworkers. There was a lot of drinking and visiting at the barbeque. One woman was telling me she had been to Utah once and just had to make the drive to the oldest tavern in Utah. She glanced at me curiously and then smirked and said they have a hard time keeping it staffed. So, already aware that we were being watched I was super embarrassed and super entertained when Macey announced in her ultra-loud-I-Have-a-comment voice at an opportune moment of silence: "She is drinking alcohol!" Then she pointed an accusing finger at the woman next to us. An astute observation. The group of 20 people sitting nearby- drinks running freely- were dumbfounded. Those crazy mormons.

Everything is so detailed and landscaped. You can't tell from this but I try.
I love this spot in the morning
Here's our house.
This one, specifically
This park is .1 miles from our house!
Grumpalump
This is our new floor. I LOVE it!!!
Got Macey to smile finally:)

Moab Mountains
Something about being in the middle of the woods in Moab with no agenda just made me want to sit and take pictures.
The middle of the woods doesn't have paved roads; it's a pretty rocky drive in.
Then we ditch the cars and take 4 wheelers:
There were plenty of four legged friends for Mackayla as well.
And two wheeled toys too:)
Luke had built a BMX track for the kids last year
And it was up and running after the tree that fell on it was moved
Here's the cute cabin:
The Crosland's even helped build it way back in the day
We filled our time with fishing
And playing in dirt
Note the mud drenched pants:)!
Ben hasn't fished in a looong time. It was fun to watch him.
Ben and I even got to hike Mt Mellentine. It's waay steeper than it first looks. There's just one small spot to climb up surrounded by cliffs of rock in one spot and the whole top is just shell rock. We even saw a bull elk. Kind of a fun date:)
Hunting for salamander at the salamander pond
Going on a walk
The drive to California was pretty
We were going the opposite way of a steady wall of traffic heading to vegas on a friday night! This is at 10:00 and it looked like rush hour.
