What you know and who you love

Yesterday as we were driving my kids were looking at all the convertibles and corvettes and "flashy" cars. Cody, talking nonstop (using his new favorite word "flashy"), finally asked if we could drive one of those instead of a minivan. I turned off the music and said the only things you can take to heaven are what you know and who you love. I hope they never forget that.

Cody seems to be made for the beach. He stayed in the water the whole time we were there except to come swallow some food at lunch.

We went to our ward beach day but since I don't actually know anyone in our ward I just decided to try my luck and if all else fails, enjoy our day at the beach. Sure enough I found a group but they were from a different ward. They knew some ward members and said they hadn't seen mine and invited me to stay with them. They were so sweet and asked how I knew to ask them. All I did was look for a bunch of moms in tankinis.

Standing out is a good thing.

 Macey has really taken to our new neighborhood. Around dinner time they will ride their bikes out front while I make dinner. Macey will ride to the corner and wait for all the dog owners to walk by with their dogs. She will ask to pet their dogs, learn their names and tell them everything about our family. We know about 15 different dogs it seems like now.

We went to target the other day. Cody and macey were being a little crazy so I was working on getting it under control when I realized what the othe noise was. We were passing through the clothes and as we passed mackayla would squeal in delight and say "oh cute!" Then another rack she would see something else she loved and say oh cute! Finally we made it to baby clothes section. She went crazy with joy. Finally she asked me to get a purple dress behind some others and she got even more excited and stopped, looked straight at me and said clear as day "Buy it." Not an order or a threat but an i desperatelyneed this dress. This one year old kills me. I think me and her have different taste in clothes but she definitely has style.
