Singer's Company Broadway

Macey had her singer's company performance
"Back to Broadway!"
They sang "Getting to Know You," "It's a Hard Knock Life," "Supercalifragilisticexpiaslidocious," "Finding Wonderland" and a couple other cute broadway songs.
Macey's favorite is Finding Wonderland and when she sings it, she really gets into it. It's a heart felt song, and she sings it with her whole little body.
 "It's a Hard Knock Life"
Their first performance was at a nursing home. I love their wheelchairs pulled right up to the "stage."

This was their first time performing in this home, and it would have been nice to have more space...but I think the residents loved it.
Unfortunately, we had to miss the other two performances, but it was for a good cause-Lake Powell:)
Macy did such an amazing job. She was pitch perfect and I'm always impressed that she does her solo with no fear. Good job Macey!

School's Out!

School's out!!
The kids had their last day
the week before school got out.
We went on a family vacation the last week of school.
I told the kids they could decide if they wanted to miss the week that is the most fun for vacation or stay for all the parties at school.
Cody was super bummed of course, but wanted to go.
Macey went back and forth for quite a while, but, we went!

Best Day Ever!

Some days are full of awesome busy-ness.
Saturday was one of those days.
I ran a spontaneous 10 miles (and could still-I've been taking it easy lately:))

Then I talked the family into a service project I signed us up for.
We went to pick up trash in Rancho Santa Margarita.
No one was excited about it.
Our ward leadership has encouraged us to extend ourselves by serving others and provided a bunch of options. I really feel strongly about teaching my kids to serve others. It's a great way to learn to think outside of yourself. But I was nervous about this being a terrible experience.
Luckily, a few days prior, Ben and I had watched Lift.
It is awesome, and a great motivation!
Anyway, we met the cute mayor of the city at the beginning, he is so fun. Then the kids each got little grabbers (they look like toys...). It got a bit more interesting to them...
I had bribed them with slurpees...
A sweet woman stopped on the road and offered the kids cans of apple juice and thanked them profusely, which made their day!!
It turned out to be FUN!
A couple of times during our trash picking upping Macey exclaimed "This is the best day of my life!"
We got a bunch of trash all around several blocks, got some exercise, had fun together, and served!

Then we went to our awesome waterpark by our house for a couple of hours. It's the "water bucket park" because a huge bucket dumps every few minutes and the kids love to stand under it and get pummeled.

Then we got to go to two baptisms.
I played the piano at one.
Macey's teacher was even at another one of the baptisms. (She has 10 members in her kindergarten class this year!! Crazy!)
Our stake has us write little notes to the kids while they are changing. I love their little notes:)
Pardon the non-editing.

Later that night I made Ben x-ray my thumb because I thought I broke it. I skipped all the thumb notes of the piano music I played that day:)
We got the pictures, and there's definitely something there...just don't know what it is!!
Here are some recipes you should try. Drive to the grocery store and buy the ingredients to try them now, they are amazing!!

I love Mackayla's artwork. She's taken to writing letters in all of it lately, and asking me what it says:)

School Performances and Career Day

We haven't been checking our baby birds the way we did our first set of baby birds.
Yesterday we went to go see how they were doing for the first time.
They're hungry chirps in the early morning hours are urgent and loud.

Two of the five stared at me and then darted out of the nest as fast as they could -- for their first time flying! I feel bad I scared them. Our other birds were used to us peeking in quietly, but these guys weren't. They clumsily landed on the ground and then tried to flap their wings. They hopped off into the bushes. I sure hope they are good! At least now the other little ones aren't getting crushed.

Macy's class had a special visitor yesterday for career day...
Dr. Ben!
The kids were fascinated with all his tools. He even brought a real horse leg in to pass around.
They cringed at the huge needles and learned that horses need a lot of the same care that people do.
Then Ben got to stay with us for Macey's kindergarten singing performance.
I thought this was cute - Macey made a list for Mackayla of all the things they were going to do together:
Here's our cute carpool girls together. Notice there are no kids behind them - this is after school, but we are the dawdlers extraordinaire and it takes us a minute to make it home:)

Cody had his class play!!
He did so awesome on his part and song.
He was "the Troll," who was a bully that ate people.

The play is called Character Matters, and was a combination of fairy tale characters getting interviewed and trying to solve their problems.

We're proud of him for doing a great job!

Latest Faves and Cleaning

I have watched some of the Face to Face interviews the church has done and they are AMAZING!!!!!!
I loved Elder and Sister Bednar's words of wisdom. Listen to what they say about discernment and beauty. I listened to them in 20 minute increments throughout the last week.
"Our actions reflect our beauty more than physical appearance." Sister Bednar
Lindsey Stirling also did great.

Macey and Mackayla are fascinated with the girl opening all the easter eggs. If you haven't seen it, it sounds so bizarre. It's just a girl's hands opening chocolate easter eggs with little toys in them. Just have your little kid watch, it's mesmerizing to them in the most insane way.

I think Cody and Macey must have gotten food poisoning or something.
They both got sick about the same time last night but don't have fevers.
Their stomachs hurt a lot, more than nausea, and they both threw up a ton last night.
This morning they are good. Well, Cody threw up a couple more times :(

I am busy cleaning up bedding, pillows, blankets, clothes, back up blankets, toilets, sinks, bath tubs, floors, bowls, couches, and back up to the back up blankets. And people, of course!
It would be super awesome if I were just cleaning up bowls...but that would require aim.

Macey was the first to throw up, then was finally able to go to sleep.
Five minutes later I heard Cody cough and ran in, but it was too late, it was Everywhere.
Cody had laid back down and gone to sleep. I woke him and he sat up threw up everywhere else and laid back down to sleep.
I woke him again and told him he threw up and he said "K, thank you" and closed his eyes.
I started cleaning him up enough to transport him to the bathroom to bath and he finally woke up. What a terrible way to wake up! He was able to go right back to sleep after his bath. Unfortunately there were several more disturbances after that.

We upgraded something or other on our computer to yosemite and now I can't find any pictures I downloaded. I don't know when I'm going to figure things out!
But, here's Cody's school singing performance from a few weeks ago and a couple more baseball pictures. Someday I'll find all the other pictures I want to post of the others.
