Macey at 7 Months

Time does somehow fly, even when the days seem to go slow...Macey is getting so big and is so much fun. She will be 7 months in a couple days!
At 6 Months she was 25 3/4 in. (50%), 16 lb. 2 oz. (50%), and 45% head.
She is still a SMILEY, wiggly baby. She is constant motion, a great sleeper, an early riser, and a little drama queen. She never wants me to leave her.
The head shaving theory conclusion: I don't know. She has hair now and it's growing fairly well. It took about a month for it to start growing again, so once again I don't know if I can attribute it to buzzing or inevitable growth. Oh well. It didn't hurt to try and she has hair now (it's short and she still looks bald, but it counts).

Lake Powell and Family Reunions

Family pictures: Cody jumping in the water:
Ben, Cody and Luke went tubing:

Ben wakeboarding:
Go Jessi!
All the guys at Lake Powell:

All the girls at Lake Powell:

We were sitting separately because we had a Zambian night. Lisa went to Zambia for 2 years with the Peace Corp and took a night to teach us some of their cooking and customs. The women and men eat separately and the women do all the cooking, cleaning, taking care of children...and everything else. I don't know what the men do:) Here we are cooking:

The women carry their children on their backs all the time until they're two years old. My neck got sore after ten minutes.

Luke built Cody a little ride down the dirt in his truck. Him and Blake got a couple of rides!

A bunch of pictures of the little girls, Macey, Lucy and Blake:

The island:

I thought this picture was hilarious. Lizzi and Jessi are so tall and skinny!

The skinny girls about to get crushed:)! This is 'royal rumble'

Our theme this year (if you noticed the shirts) was i.gov. Gratitude Ownership Virtue. I loved the concept of ownership: you are in charge of your own happiness, emotions, future, etc. Entitlement was a big part of that.

I LOVE going and getting away from everything and just spending time relaxing and hanging out and trying to get a tan. It's different with kids, not as relaxing, but still just as fun. Now I get to watch them have fun too! Cody went tubing, kayaking, swam, and mostly just loved spending time looking for lizards and throwing rocks in the water.

The second week I spent with my family. Ben had to go back to Pullman to work, and we MISSED him. Our family reunion was the next Saturday and Vanessa was blessed on Sunday! She had a beautiful blessing. Part of the Brady tradition is for the babies to put their hand in the cake!

These are the pics I got of our family reunion at my parent's house. It was the Bassett family. It's been years since we've all gotten together. There were tons of little kids! My mom did an awesome job; it was a huge event to plan and prepare but I thought it turned out great.

My high school reunion was also on Saturday. Anyone that wasn't there that is wondering how it was...picture everyone in high school and that is basically how they looked. Everyone is in school or has jobs...and life goes on! I'm glad I went though it was interesting. The funnest part - a bird pooped on my head. Ironically, I saw the birds and thought to myself, I bet I get pooped on! Awesome:)
I thought it would be fun for Cody to see Ben on the webcam while we were in Utah. He started bawling the minute he saw him and kept saying daddy hold me. He loves his dad! We were sad to leave all the fun, but so excited to see DAD!!!!!

Welcome Vanessa!

My niece Vanessa Brady was born on May 20! She's such a little cutie (as far as I can tell from pictures...we'll see her soon!) and Lynette is doing well, after a long stay at the hospital with her blood clot. She did go in once after because of hemmoraging, but they stabilized her medication and she is doing well. Right Nette?
I am so excited to meet this little girl. I used to LOVE to carry Lynette around and play with her as a baby...so this will be like a baby Lynette all over to me:)

Testing a Theory

A good friend of mine told me that if you shave your baby's head, their hair will grow back thicker. So, since Macey is still basically bald, I thought I would do a little experiment and test that theory and see if it works for Macey. We did it to Cody and it totally worked - but he was 13 months old - so I don't know if it was because he was bound to get hair eventually or because we buzzed his head.
I used the clippers on a 1 and shaved all her hair off. When I turned off the clippers I realized I had been holding my breath the whole time. It was more hair than I expected! So...in a month or so I'll reevaluate and see if it actually worked!! I'll keep you posted:)

Week in Review:Utah

We headed to Utah while Ben was going to do an internship in Idaho Falls. He was here for Lucy's blessing and then headed off Monday morning.
Sunday: little Lucy's blessing day. After a beautiful blessing, we went to the park for some food and fun! NoticeCarly's 'holding' Lucy's binky:)
Monday: Hogle Zoo. Cody liked the animals and LOVED the train ride. Macey preferred to sleep and stay out of the sun, I sure hope that changes because Cody wants to live outside in the summer.
Tuesday: Jungle Jim's Playland. Mom or Steph...I need your pictures! Cody was in his element. I stuck him on a little roller coaster that went really fast in a big seat by himself. I was worried it would go too fast, but as it started he got a look of pure excitement that lasted the entire ride! He also liked the bumper cars, but since I had to ride in it with him it wasn't as cool. He kept telling me to get out:) I also got to see Becky and Brett's newly finished basement, it's beautiful!
Wednesday: A little hang out time and time for Macey to relax and get better. She took two Really long naps and her fever broke.
Thursday: A little shopping and lunch. That night Amy, Jessi and I took a girls' night and went to Seventeen Again (again!). On the way there some random boy in a truck next to us took a picture of Jessi with his phone and I caught him. He just laughed and held up his phone. Random! Jessi is gorgeous though. I love girls' nights.
Friday: Cody rode Isaac and the tractor at the farm. I rode a little too...someday I'll be a pro. At least I better be, because I guarantee someday we'll have several horses so I might as well enjoy them!
Happy Birthday to Micah, she's 3! We sang happy birthday to her, then while they were eating cupcakes, Micah sang "Happy birthday to me." Clayton (my nephew) was listening and sang happy birthday to me back. She sat there a second then said, "no...happy birthday to me." Clayton parroted it back and a never ending conversation started. Micah got several pricess dressed and her cousin Spencer (from Brett's side) tried one on. Ben would have killed me if Cody was wearing one of those:)!
That night Ben came home (Utah home that is)!!! I never know what to say about his experience, and honestly he's not the best reporter. He saw a mare foal a little black colt. They did a bunch of equine work, some small animal stuff, and overall I think he had a great time and got to see what the clinic was like.

Saturday: Hogle Zoo, part 2 with my family (at this point my card was full and I don't have any pictures of this either:( anyone? send me pictures). Right after the zoo my parents drove down to American Fork to see Lynette who is pregnant and due in a week and has a blood clot. We hope everything goes okay and we're praying for you Nette. We had a great time and can't wait until we come back!

Happy Anniversary

Happy five years to us.
I'm so grateful that our roads crossed and that we are where we are today- together:)
