Vacation at Home

You Give Me a Kiss
You Give Me a Hug
You Smile When You See Me Too
I Wish Every Child in the Whole Wide World
Had a Grandmother Just Like You!
As soon as we got back from the airport, Mackayla decided to pull out all the stops and up and started walking across the room. If we cheered she immediately sat. I think it might be the beginning of something...hopefully soon...if we ignore her accomplishments maybe:)

Mackayla and my mom became great friends this week.
They had plenty of opportunity!
I had a preschool class for me to go to, the dentist, volunteering at Cody's school, running kids to school, my race, and going out with Ben!
She had a cold when grandma came. It looked like it was getting better then took a turn south and she ended up with a nasty fever.
It kind of cramped our style, I'm not going to lie. We didn't end up even getting to the coast. But it was such a fun relaxing week (for me at least, my mom is not a relaxer, she's a worker!)
Even though most of our fun was at home, we HAD fun!
The kids modeled some costumes for grandma.
And built elaborate train stations

We had a beautiful day with no rain so we headed to the park. This picture makes me laugh every time I see it.
I love the colors of fall. There are so many trees here, each with their varying colors- it's so pretty!
I love the moss covered trees too!
My trip to the dentist brought no surprises here - four more cavities!! What is going on?!
Cody has really been wanting me to volunteer in his class. It's so sweet and I know that won't always be the case, so I really wanted to do it. It was so fun to see all the kids in his class and how things worked there.
He's a good kid.
One thing grandma does love to do is shop. When I questioned her on this love, she said she actually just loves to shop for others. How sweet. She took us for a shopping adventure at Cosco; we don't have a membership so it was perfect. I stocked up on food storage since everything comes as a year supply.
She was able to get the kids Christmas presents (secretly:)) while the kids ate hot dogs, because you can't go to Cosco without one.
It was the perfect adventure for Macey, who loves to "push buttons." While that may be taken literally, it's actually what she calls playing with the toys at the store, pushing buttons on all the electronic toys.
We made a few yummy new recipes. And I learned a few cooking tips.

I love those squishy cheeks!
And those!
I'm not sure I did the dishes this week. Or my laundry. This is most definitely one of the ways my mother chooses to serve. She did my laundry while I was volunteering in Cody's class. I like to lounge and let my food digest after I eat. My mom whips up and cleans off every surface before I can get up. It really was like a vacation in my very own house.
Saying goodbye to my mom was awesome (as in funny).
Mackayla fell asleep on the way. My mom snuck to the back of the car and went to hug Cody, who got teary.
She went to hug Macey who needed to tell her something.
Macey stuttered for about two minutes trying to get out one sentence then finally blurted out, "You are too close to me."
They hugged and she forgot what she was trying to say anyway.
She went back to console Cody. He finally looked around her and said, "I can't see the movie."
Leave it to kids to say exactly what's on their mind.
The night before she left Mackayla got up off my lap and went to grandma to sit in her lap.
That was a revolutionary move for her.
They were sad to see her go. We had so much fun. But we'll see her again around Christmas!
