Mackayla turned SIX!
Every year she has some sort of fear involved with growing older.
This year, she was worried that on her sixth birthday she would be too big to fit in her favorite pink dress that she bought with her very own money.
LUCKILY, she did not grow five inches in one night. I keep think maybe I should tell her the truth about the patterns of growth, but it's cute, and she'll learn eventually.
Other than that though, she has always wanted to be older, not younger, and she's fast growing up!
She has really been looking forward to getting her ears pierced.
We tried to talk Macey into doing it too, but she was for sure out, and even left the store while they were doing it so she didn't have to watch!
Mackayla was Super excited to have Micah there to sit with her!
She colored this BYU magazine cover and I emailed it in to them and they posted it on their page. She loves art!
Cake with cousins:)
Becky colored the back of her hair pink. It didn't stay too long, but she loved it while it lasted. It's hard to see since it blends in to her dress, but the bottom is dark pink.
We debated and debated on whether or not to send her to Kindergarten this year or last. Either way would have been just fine. I am volunteering in the kids' classes and Mackayla's teacher just sang praises when I went in about how involved in class she was, how obedient, how smart, how helpful, etc. etc. Mackayla feels confident and secure and makes a new friend every day, so for that much I'm so glad we waited. Plus, Sam Dugdale is in her class, and she thinks he's super cute, so there's that:)
One of the most exciting things about celebrating her birthday was getting SHELLAC on her nails (and if you ask her it's not getting her nails done, it's "getting shellac"). With her missing front teeth shellac is extra emphasized. One more time reading that word now: shellac.
She wears a skirt to school almost every day, and is going to be a little disappointed now that winter stormed in suddenly without asking.
She is a serious force to be reckoned with on the soccer field. I played soccer and was aggressive and all, but even at five and six, Mackayla takes it to a whole new level. It's hilarious to watch her lanky legs and arms flailing out there, stopping the ball in the mass, sometimes missing the ball entirely and taking out a player or two. I'm coaching her team this year, too, and surprisingly she loves it.
She might be the tallest sibling? Maybe volleyball is in her future?!
