I guess you could say that having gratitude in my heart is another one of my new year's resolutions. It's not something measurable per se, but does make a huge difference anyway.
How can this song not make you feel grateful: click here and go to #13 and listen to a few seconds of it. Love this cd that my mother in law gave us for one of the 13 days of christmas.
I couldn't hear out of one ear for one entire day (no idea why) and then I couldn't see (contact problems) then two days ago I took a pan out of the oven, turned around, and then picked it up with my bare hand. Three of my senses were compromised this week...it made me grateful for them in a new way!
We were listening to the follow the prophet song this morning and Macey said the prophet lived at our house. and I told her he didn't. She then asked if he lived at the north pole. Nope- Salt Lake:) Sometimes it's hard not to answer her with a huge smile.
Being thankful is different than being grateful. Thankful is expressed through words, grateful expressed through action.
That being said, I am thankful, in a way to have our next door neighbors. They saved our house from literally burning to the ground. Two days before I had Mackayla there was a huge storm and a tree fell on our power line. I didn't realize it had snapped one of the three lines. Later that day, our neighbor, who is an electrician, came over and said if we didn't turn the power off right NOW, it would start a fire because the line that had snapped didn't supply power to the house, it took the excess out. It was just building up ready to explode. The tree wasn't cut down until a week later, and with no doubt would have been too late with the power build up. Their son may do drugs and often have drunken rages at two in the morning, but he doesn't bother us directly. Maybe it's not a coincidence that we live right next to them and they were able to save our house.
