Right after Lake Powell we went to Kaysville and Fruit Heights for just one day. One day is never enough time to spend with people you love, but it was my mom's birthday, and we were so close!
Happy Birthday Mom!
Perfect timing to spend it with her!
Ben of course went fishing that morning. It's all he really needs for happiness in life! He and Stephen fished on the Provo River and then Ben met up with us at Boondocks.
Pretty fish!
Early that morning I went on a run. It was perfect route and perfect timing to run by here. Brynn, my niece, would be 12 years old on June 20th.
Then we went over to get grandkid pictures quick.
The kids were fascinated with these birds nests in the rafters.
My cute clever parents had a treasure hunt ready when we got back. The kids had to sift through all the sand in the sandbox for their treasure: a hefty amount of change. They Loved it!!
We headed to Boondocks Cody, Macey, and Micah all raced on the race track, and Mackayla patiently waited, then they all went to the boats and squirted each other. It was a hot day!!
We miniature golfed, laser tag, they watched a 3D little movie, and played games. That place is hopping. Then we headed over to dinner.
My mom has had headaches ever since her surgery, and even before that as well.
She had been drinking caffeine every day, because it really helped take away her headaches, but they always came and they often kept her up at night, when caffeine isn't an ideal option.
She read a book called Heal Your Headache and followed what they recommended and her headaches are gone! Hopefully they stay gone. It's fascinating to me that just by making diet changes you can alter your health that drastically.
In a nutshell, without having read the book myself, they recommend getting off all processed foods. MSG is sometimes a big trigger of headaches. It seems to be in almost all processed food!
Caffeine fixes a headache but will always create a rebound headache the next day. Interesting.
It's amazing how much we depend on processed food in general though, and it's kind of a big deal to change all that.
Our drive back, thanks to my parents, was much better with air conditioning. We could have driven back our air conditioning dead car, but I'm so glad we didn't. Las Vegas closed the freeway right at the main section of the strip. We had to inch down the strip in 113 degree weather for 2 hours!
I hear if 'you know someone' you can get a cop escort down some of the back roads, and it probably drums up a LOT of business on there, so I'm pretty sure they aren't in a hurry to fix it...
Hopefully before we pass through again though!
Mackayla told us after we had been driving for forever that her "cheek butts were hurting."
We got home late that night. She had been saying her stomach didn't feel good. I couldn't decide if she was car sick or what. As soon as we got upstairs, she laid on her bed and then threw up all over it.
Nothing more fun than driving all day then coming home and cleaning vomit up from everything!!! Poor girl, she really wasn't feeling good! But, we made it home safe and sound.
